About Us
The Saginaw, Swan Creek and Black River Bands are made up of Anishinaabe people from three bands and are a part of the larger Anishinaabe people in Michigan. These three bands have historically worked together as one. We have our own unique cultural history and governance within the broader Chippewa nation.
Our History
The Saginaw, Swan Creek, and Black River Bands of Chippewa were parties to numerous treaties with the United States, and thereby ceded millions of acres of their ancestral homelands.
